The skin on the arms commonly loses its elasticity as a result of natural aging or rapid weight loss.

What is Arm Lift?

Arm lift also referred to as Brachioplasty, is a procedure used to remove excess skin from the upper arm.  Arm lift surgery tightens and tones the upper arms, restoring a youthful contour. Patients with excess fat on their arms may choose to have liposuction performed in conjunction with the arm Lift procedure for better results.

  • Surgery duration: 1 – 2 hours
  • Anesthesia: general anesthesia.
  • Recovery period: 2 – 4 weeks
  • Final Result: 6 months

Dr. Abeer  Sawwaf believes each arm is anatomically different and each patient has different fears and expectations. This is why she takes the time to individually address every one of your questions as well as discuss the potential risks and outcomes during your consultation.

You may be a good candidate for the Arm Lift if:

  • You’ve tried exercise to tone your arms but haven’t seen any improvement.
  • The skin on your upper arms is too saggy because of weight loss or aging.
  • You feel ashamed about how your arms look.

  • An arm lift involves a day surgical procedure
  • Before the surgery begins, a general anesthesia will be administered.
  • Dr. Abeer Sawwaf will first make incisions on the inner part of your arm (extending from the inside of your elbow to your underarm).
  • The excess skin between these incisions will be removed, helping to make the skin taut.
  • Dr. Abeer Sawwaf may also use liposuction to remove excess fat deposits at this point.
  • Once the proper amount of fat and tissue is removed, she will use sutures to close the incisions.

Following your arm lift it is normal to notice some swelling and bruising, Dr. Abeer Sawwaf will give you specific instructions to care for your incisions:

  • She will ask you to take certain medications to reduce the pain.
  • You have to wear pressure compression garment for a few weeks after the Procedure. To minimizes the bruising and swelling and helps produce an even contour.
  • Avoid heavy activities and sports for one month after the Procedure.
  • And to keep your arms elevated and to limit movement to aid in healing.

Results:

You’ll probably see an immediate improvement but swelling and bruising will hide your results. Wait a couple of months to see your initial results, and about 6 months or so to see your optimal results.
